It's tempting to race up the scoring grids. The VB-MAPP scoring grids can be very reinforcing for us and once, say, Mand Level 1 is all filled in, to go racing to the right and forget all about Mands (requesting items or situations, an absolutely critical skill for all students). Just because a student "Emits 10 different mands without prompts..." doesn't mean we should abandon our Mand training efforts. Think about how many different Mands we have and how frustrating it would be to go through life with just 10 Mands under our belts! What if one of our 10 Mands isn't "unsubscribe from this annoying mailing list". I'd have maladaptive behaviors too! Yes, hit those Tacts, Listener Responding and Match to Sample Milestones but don't stop when the student has only 10 Mands. Keep going!
